Hi,

any plans for SharePoint 2013 support?

From the current state, I would say that we already support SP2013 :-) because the solution development and also the artefacts created by SPSF stay pretty much the same. Of course we will still need to test the generated code.

The bigger question is the support for VS2012 as Microsoft discontinued the Guidance Automation Extensions (also known as GAX) which is used by SPSF. We will see if GAX can still be made available for VS2012 or if some major recoding is required for SPSF.

Just a quick update on the future plans for SPSF:

As MS released GAX to OpenSource and it is already released with VS2012 support on http://opengax.codeplex.com/ the future of SPSF is secured :-)

We are currently working on a new version with support for

- SP2010 and SP2013 (including new recipes)
- VS2010 and VS2012

Unfortunately we plan to drop support for MOSS2007 and VS2008 so if your are still using it you will have to stick to the current version.

SPSF will also be updated to use the new PowerShell version for solution deployment instead of the current solution in MSBuild. You can get the new deployment package already now on http://spsd.codeplex.com

We currently do not have a release date for the new version so please just follow me on Twitter for updates.

Hello,

"Unfortunately we plan to drop support for MOSS2007 and VS2008 so if your are still using it you will have to stick to the current version."

Please realize a side by side installation so I can use vs2010 to develop SP2007 solutions and vs2012 to develop SP2010 and SP2013 solutions.

VS2012 and VS2010 will probably be separate VSIX so I don't see a a problem with that :-)

Just be aware that bugfixes and new recipes will not be updated for the old version.

Hey guys,

short question on this: Is there currently a workaround to use SPSF with Visual Studio 2012? Or do I also need to install VS2010 on my VM/Server to use SPSF (that would be bad)?

Cheers.

Hi Timmes,

sorry for the long lack of updates!
Unfortunately the new version with new SP2013 related features takes longer as we expected. Also we are currently focusing most of our available time on getting a community edition of SPCop out (read more at [http://sharepointcop.codeplex.com])

That's why we decided to release an updated version of SPSF with only minor new features but with VS2012 and SP2013 support.
It should be available very soon, when all basic tests are going fine.

Thanks for your patience.
Regards,

Matthias
